What did we do before podcasts? I listen to them allllll the time. I love learning or being entertained by a story while I’m driving or doing things around the house. I’m starting a monthly series to share my favorite specific episodes I listened to each month.
WSJ Secrets of Wealthy Women – Jen Scienaro on Achieving Your Money Dreams
I’ve read Jen’s book, You Are a Badass: How to stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life and it’s one of those books I feel like I could read multiple times and still learn something new. I also want to read her You Are a Badass at Making Money which the episode touches on. Her interview was a great motivator to get really clear and focused on my money goals for 2020. Sadly, there is a stigma and shame around talking about money and I know I’m guilty of feeling that way too. I think it’s more than OK to say you like to make money and learn how to best achieve your financial goals.
Oprah Super Soul Conversations – Oprah & Cheryl Strayed: Regret and Forgiveness
This episode is super short (12 minutes) but it is so impactful. It had me nodding my head with “aha moments” and tears in my eyes. I’ve always identified with Cheryl as she lost her mother at a young age. However, we’ve all experienced loss and Cheryl’s conversation with Oprah talks about how the good and bad things that happen to us in our lives are both gifts. She is a big believer that we are all responsible for our own lives and I couldn’t agree more.
Second Life – Ariane Goldman: CEO and Founder of Twobirds New York and HATCH
I love the Second Life podcast, there are so many amazing interviews. I’m a big fan of Hatch‘s clothing line for pre, during and post-partum and had no idea the founder also has an incredibly successful bridesmaid dress company, Twobirds. I loved learning about how she turned her ideas into a reality and scaled them to where they are now. All while raising a family in NYC!
Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard – Dr. Wendy Mogel
I have to admit I’m not the biggest fan of this podcast series because the episodes average 2 hrs, which is just too long for me. However, my best friend recommended I listened to the interview with clinical psychologist, parenting expert and NYT best seller, Dr. Wendy Mogel. This is an older episode (from 2018) but another one of those episodes I learn new things each time I revisit it. Dr. Mogel talks about the art of talking to children and how to navigate discipling your child. She also touches on navigating anxiety and the busy factor in both adults and children. I love her mindset on parenting and feels like she helps bring parents back-to-basics with their children.
Oprah Super Soul Conversations – Oprah & Lady Gaga: Your Life in Focus
I love a candid and vulnerable conversation surrounding mental health and so appreciated how forthcoming Lady Gaga was with Oprah about her struggles. In this podcast convo Lady G was so raw and shared her ongoing journey battling fibromyalgia. I also learned she’s on a mission to help end the mental health crisis by advocating for mental health professionals at every school and for mental health to have it’s own class just like sex education.
Juicy Scoop – Meghan King Edmonds, Divorce & Relationships
As a devoted RHOC fan, I loved Meghan King Edmonds interview on Juicy Scoop. She is going through a lot with her divorce drama while being a mom to 3 little ones. She gives lots of scoop about the OC housewives and gives her insight on the Brooks’ cancer scandal. MKE is also friends with housewives from other franchises and gives some fun intel. It’s an easy listen for any Real Housewife fan!
Second Life – Reese Witherspoon: Actress, Producer and Hello Sunshine Founder
Reese is such a dynamo and a refreshing ray of sunshine. She discusses being an actress, producer, entrepreneur and activist. She wears so many hats and is always thinking of new ideas. Reese shares snippets of her family life and insight into how her wildly successful acting career into creating a media company that is focused on sharing women’s stories.
Business Wars – Netflix vs Blockbuster
This podcast is a 9 episode series and SO good. If you’re not familiar with Business Wars it’s a podcast with mini-series that dives deep into the stories of what drives companies, their leaders, investors to grow to new heights or their ultimate demise. Since I grew up with Blockbuster being the highlight of my Fridays and it’s now transitioned to the Netflix and chill life, I loved learning about how streaming came to be and the big ideas and risks it took for Netflix to gain notoriety.
Second Life – Tina Craig: Bag Snob Blogger, U Beauty Founder, and Estate Five Co-Founder
The face behind Bag Snob, Tina Craig has always been somewhat mysterious to me, so I loved this conversation between longtime friends Tina and Hilary. I found it both interesting as an influencer and a consumer of influence. Tina’s journey and evolution is fascinating and star studded yet simple. Tina has multiple successful companies and is much more than just a blogger.
The Skinny Confidential – Dr. Josh Axe on Natural Health Alternatives, Nutrition & Chinese Medicine
I’m late to the game, but I just started listening to The Skinny Confidential podcast. My favorite episode this month was the conversation with certified doctor of natural medicine and clinical nutritionist, Dr. Josh Axe. He has a passion for teaching people how to lead a healthy lifestyle using natural medicine and nutrition. Dr. Axe helped his mom’s cancerous tumors shrink through natural health alternatives and nutrition which I found incredibly interesting. I am not well versed in Chinese medicine and alternatives, so loved learning about their theories. He shares the origin of many western medicine ideas that were originally adopted from Chinese medicine.
